Houston born David Stal was drawn to Los Angeles by his passion for film and television scoring.  He studied at the USC Thornton School of Music and graduated with a Bachelor’s of music composition.  David was awarded the Joe and Alice Harnell Scholarship for Film Scoring which led him to a Graduate Certificate from the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television Program.  After university, he began employment with JoAnne Kane Music Services, where he worked for 5 years as a takedown artist, orchestrator, arranger, midi transcriber, copyist and proofreader. David continued his education while at JKMS by participating in the 2011 ASCAP Film Scoring workshop.  Stal then undertook a scoring project for the AFI film “Thief”, which garnered much acclaim winning both the gold medal at the 2011 Student Academy awards and 1st Place Drama at the College Television Awards the same year.  Over the next 4 years David worked overtime on arranging, producing, engineering and mixing tracks for 3 albums: an a cappella album for sextet Simply Put, also Christmas and jazz albums for independent artists Drew Tablak and Chelsea Davis respectively.  Most recently he worked as assistant to composer Michael Kramer on the new animated series “Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures”.  David Stal’s additional music and orchestrations for season 1 can currently be heard on Disney XD.
